Dave Brobst

“BROBST David J. Brobst, age 72, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Mount Carmel Medical Center. He was born in Columbus on June 14, 1938, to the late Fred Brobst and Dorothy Brobst, and was a graduate of Bexley High School. After receiving a Bachelor's Degree from Capital University, David then earned his Master's in Education from Louisiana State University. He taught at Newton Local Schools for 7 years, and then retired from Whitehall Schools after serving 23 years as a music teacher and band director. He played the flute and piccolo, and he was a member of the Heisey Wind Ensemble. He was also a member of the National Model Railroad Assoc., as well as All Saints Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years (best friend of 45), Dora Brobst. David is survived by his children, Deanna (Jerry) Wilson, Debbie Brobst, and Donna Brobst; grandchildren, Erin and Chris Wilson; sister, Lenore (Don) Lutz; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at All Saints Lutheran Church, 6770 N. High St., Worthington, with special music and viewing beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Bonnie Gerber officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. 9 March: “David Brobst, the new owner of the Chama Subdivision Railroad (formally “Doc” Sage’s layout), suffered a fall at home recently. He is currently in the surgical ICU at Mt. Carmel West Hospital, and has been stabilized.”
